#NEWMUSIC: GIVE UP THE GOLD BY JESSE AND THE DANDELIONS

#NEWMUSIC

Edmonton's space-pop indie-rockers Jesse and the Dandelions premiere the title track for their forthcoming record titled “Give Up The Gold.”

Lead singer Jesse Northey says: "This may be the simplest song that I’ve ever written. I usually get into a trap of trying to include too many chords in a song, for the sake of melodic adventuring. “Give Up The Gold” was an active restraint, and I think it’s stronger for it.  I feel like I was still able to adventure with the production – the two opposing forces of distorted breakbeat drums/buzzy guitars paired with dreamy open chords, waterfall delay guitar hooks, and simple wurlitzer arpeggios, creates a landscape that I’m personally very excited about. Lyrically, “Give Up The Gold” is quite simple, but I love that I could include a few double entendres."

The album drops in September, and was recorded by Northey and Nik Kozub (Shout Out Out Out Out) . The band features affiliates of fellow Edmonton locals, The Velveteins, with co-producing/engineering duties with Nik Kozub. The Dandelions are comprised of members Conner Ellinger, Daniel Sedmark, Travis Sargent, and Dean Kheroufi.
