I M U R (“I am, you are”) is an electronic R&B trio based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Back in 2015, Jenny Lea (vocals/keys) and Mikey J Blige (live production/electric guitar) began sharing beats and vocals back and forth over the internet which would soon be unveiled to the public. Things grew quickly for the duo – deciding to self-record, produce, and release an EP followed by a live act within a two-month period. After the the arrival of Lea and Blige's debut Slow Dive, former tourmate and friend Amine Bouzaher joined forces to become I M U R's third member.

A couple years later, following the 2017 release of the triad's sophomore EP Little Death, the group has played big stages and opened for the likes of Jorja Smith, Lorde and Hayley Kiyoko. Along with their recent successes, they are currently one of the Top 10 finalists to attend the JUNO Master Class in October.

Succeeding a summer full of festivals, impressive support slots and most recently surpassing a million streams on Spotify, I M U R returns with "Afterglow" – the last of three singles from their upcoming record. Their newest track sticks to the band's signature sound described as "a state of hypnosis brought on by floor-trembling bass, ethereal melodies and sultry vocals."

"Afterglow" is an anthemic alt-pop song about finding comfort in chaos, knowing that there's no peaks without valleys, and that you can't survive on ice-cream. The overall output flawlessly combines an upbeat ambient aura and bassy undertones paired with a poetic narrative.

This single – like those before it, sets I M U R apart from other R&B and electronic groups by boldly exploring and fusing elements of different genres to create a sound that is hard to compare with that of its peers. Afterglow is defined as light or radiance remaining in the sky after the sun has set, which is a fitting title for this track. It's neither dark nor light but somewhere in between – a polished pop song with just the right amount of mystery and depth.

"Afterglow" is a mere taste of what's to come on THIRTY33 - I M U R's third EP – set for release next month. THIRTY33 will "blend strength with vulnerability and intimacy in [their] songs and often thematically touch on introspection, sex, substances and overcoming."

Check out their EP release party on October 11th at Vancouver's Fortune Sound Club.
