With her debut LP What We Lost set to launch this summer, Janette King releases a brand new single.

The Vancouver-born, Montreal-based producer and artist is known for curating a fusion of house, alt R+B and pop. With an LP – set for release on June 25, 2021 via Hot Tramp Records, King's songs attempt to tap into the frightening intersection where searing pain and sadness can produce soaring new heights for art whilst simultaneously unpacking changes in her life such as the ending of romance, the loss of close family members, and at times, a loss of self.

The first single from What We Lost has officially taken-off  and is accompanied by a stunning music video. Thematically, "Airplane" reflects on loss and personal experiences of dealing with heartbreak in a productive way:

“This is a song about coming to the realization that you need to let go of great love. Feeling angry that your lover wants to move away and that in turn, this means the end of the relationship. There is a sour energy to this song but there is also a sense of empowerment.”

The music video for the song with production by Jordan Esau and mixing by Boha, was filmed, directed and edited by Kenny McDonald. "Airplane" sees Scout Heckle and King, dancing their way through a spectrum of hazy colours.

Her upcoming project follows a run of singles and EPs which have already garnered praise across many major media outlets and earned her opening slots for Sudan Archives, CupcakKe and Jamila Woods.

With more new music on the way, it is only up from here for King.
