Known for her extensive songwriting catalogue, explosive performances, and signature pink hair, Canadian musician and producer, Terez is gearing up to release her debut EP. The 24-year-old pop artist from Calgary/Toronto releases “Cake” – her third single from the upcoming project.

With a title inspired by the common phrase – “you can't have your cake and eat it too,” “Cake” is an ode to revenge on a partner after being cheated on in the form of an upbeat pop-rock-trap song:

“‘Cakeis a cheeky play on the saying ‘you can’t have your cake and eat it too’ with a dash of sugar, spite, and a sprinkle of bitterness (for garnish). I’m not saying the song is based on a true story, but you should definitely think twice before crossing a songwriter. I hope this song can be an empowering revenge anthem to anyone who’s been burned by a cheater or needs some added sweetness.”

The track was written in Nashville following a terrible date where Terez quickly penned “Cake” with the support of Tamara Laurel alongside Alexander Frieden and was co-produced with Internet Money  a record label and artist collective. “Cake” is a fun, super sweet revenge anthem filled with cheeky wordplay and a delicious melody.

On her latest track and the two preceding (“Hot Mess,” “This City”), Terez’s expressive lyricism and brash beats shine through. With an emphasis on honesty and vulnerability, the openly 2SLGBTQ+ and Métis artist uses her platform to discuss topics such as self-love, mental health, and acceptance. Her music is enjoyable both emotionally and sonically, with personal verses aimed at making listeners feel related to and understood, while delivering danceable pop melodies.

Though she has yet to release an EP, Terez is no stranger to the music business. Over the past ten years she has been honing her craft – writing over 500 original songs, earning 400,000 streams in the past year, sharing a stage with Keith Urban and running her own company. Terez also plays her own instruments, writes her own songs and is finetuning her technical skills – recently being selected by SOCAN to participate in a female-only class on music production.

Ready to showcase a new collection that compliments her classic sound while simultaneously showing her growth to her rapidly-growing online fanbase, Terez will release her upcoming eight track EP this summer.
